Lets you just want to block a website or few websites using their URL it can be done by blocking these URLs in windows hosts file, to do so –

1. Open My Computer
2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc folder here you will find a file named Hosts,
3. Right Click on Hosts file and go to Properties > Security Tab.
4. Click on Edit you will get a new Pop-up here click on Add.                                                                        
5. Once you click on Add you will get another Box
6. Type here your Computer User Name and click on Check Names Hit OK.
7. Check the Box for Full control
8. Hit Apply OK, Apply OK on Properties window.

The above step will give you permission to edit the Hosts file and after editing that you can save it to the same directory, if you don’t perform above step you won’t be able to save it in the same directory.

Now Open Hosts file with Notepad.

at the bottom of this file, you need to add:-

127.0.0.1           www.siteyouwanttoblock.com

127.0.0.1             www.anothersitetoblock.com

you can add many sites here which you want to block, there must me space or tab space between 127.0.0.1 and website URL otherwise it will not work, once finish adding URLs here just Save this Hosts file.

The above method actually redirects blocked website to your computer itself not to the original destination of the site so the browser will say “Webpage not available”.

Method 1 is suitable for blocking few websites, also a little tech savvy person can unblock it easily.

How to Block Multiple Website in windows 7, 8 & 8.1

Method 2 –

Above method is not able to block website categories like dating, porn, gambling, etc sites, you may block 10-50 sites but there are millions of such sites which are impossible to block using above method so here is another cool option to block multiple sites and website categories which is going to be very useful for everyone like.
